Finally! Last autumn I got into a mad craze about velociraptors and for a good few weeks, they were all I was willing to draw. They're all one particular specimen, my little man Moki, who wants to be a dominant raptor someday. He tries hard, he's cute, he has teeth and a killer claw - what more is there to love? I adore drawing raptors because of their powerful hindquarters, ramrod tail and intelligence. Freakin' amazing animals. Sort of sad they don't survive to this day!
I want to animate one!
The last post is an example of what happens when your lifedrawing professor - who likely does not know a lick of raptor anatomy - decides to critique your work for no reason. I think he was bored. It was pretty annoying in any case, because all I had meant to do was show him the sketch as one artist shows another to say "look what I drew for fun!" Anyway, everyone got a good laugh out of it after he was gone. (Also, the best part is that his notes made absolutely no sense to me.) Anyway, don't let your fanatic life drawing teacher near stuff you want to keep!
